Telltale — Privacy Policy

Telltale (also listed as "Telltale Wind") is a wind and sports instrument for kitesurfers, windsurfers, sailors and cyclists, for iPhone and Apple Watch. This page explains exactly what it accesses and what happens to it. In short: your data stays on your device. There are no accounts, no servers of ours, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking SDK of any kind.

Who we are

What the app accesses

• Location (While Using), for: live wind and weather at your position; your GPS speed, distance and elevation while you record a session; and a place name for that session, looked up through Apple's own geocoding service. Telltale only tracks location in the background while a session is actively recording, and only once you've granted permission.
• Weather (Apple WeatherKit) — your coordinates are sent to Apple to return current wind speed, gust, direction and conditions. This is Apple's service, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and its own weather data attribution, which Telltale links to in Settings.
• Heart rate (Apple Health / HealthKit) — read only, and only with your permission. On iPhone, Telltale reads heart-rate samples your Apple Watch has already written to Health, so they can appear in a recorded session's charts. Telltale never writes heart-rate data from the iPhone app.
• Workouts (Apple Health / HealthKit, Apple Watch only) — when you record a session on Apple Watch, Telltale runs a workout session and saves it to Apple Health when you stop, the same way any fitness app would. That workout (with its heart rate and active-energy data) then lives in the Health app under Apple's own rules, independent of Telltale.
• Your iPhone and Apple Watch, directly — session start/stop and live readings travel straight between your two devices over Apple's WatchConnectivity, never through a server.
• Recorded sessions, favourite spots and settings — stored in the app's own storage on your device, so you can review a session's charts or reopen a favourite spot later.

Where your data lives

Everything above stays on your device. We don't operate a server, and nothing you record is uploaded to us. Deleting a session removes it from Telltale; uninstalling the app removes everything Telltale itself stored. A workout Telltale already saved to Apple Health is a separate copy, kept by Apple's Health app, and stays there — like any Health data — until you delete it yourself in Health.

Third-party services

Telltale calls exactly two outside services, both Apple's own: WeatherKit for weather, and HealthKit for heart rate and workouts. Both run under Apple's privacy policy, not ours. There is no advertising, analytics, tracking or crash-reporting SDK anywhere in the app.

This website

telltale.stratanaut.com is a static, self-contained site: it sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no fonts, scripts or embeds from another company. It's hosted by Vercel Inc. If you email support@stratanaut.com, Cloudflare routes that message to the developer's Gmail inbox without keeping a copy itself; Google then handles it under its own privacy policy, as it would any message sent to a Gmail address.

Your choices

• Grant or revoke Location and Health permissions any time in iOS Settings.
• Delete any recorded session from within Telltale.
• Delete a workout Telltale saved from the Health app.
• Uninstalling Telltale removes everything it stored on your device.

Children

Telltale is not directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what Telltale does with your data, we'll say so in the app's release notes and update the version and date at the top of this page.
